Dimitri van den Bergh is on the verge of a maiden World Series of Darts title after seeing off Michael Smith in a crushing 11-4 victory in Copenhagen.

Smith had won 14 matches in a row stretching back to his Premier League triumph in Newcastle with title wins in Zwolle and New York since then but after priorly beating Vladimir Andersen and Fallon Sherrock, his run has come to an end at the hands of the Dreammaker.

The opening two legs were shared but that was as good as it got in the early stages for Smith as Van den Bergh surged into a 4-1 lead with two 86 checkouts en route to the first interval.

He broke to make it 5-1 as he made it five legs on the spin from there with a hold after two 180's were cancelled out by poor doubling from Smith who handed Van den Bergh a reprieve to make it 6-1.

Smith had one final hope with a 72 checkout to make it 6-2 but this slowly faded as Van den Bergh surged one away at 10-3 after an 11-darter prior and sealed the deal from there. He faces the winner of James Wade and Gary Anderson shortly.
