Do you know The Drill?

It's all about staying underground in games like Core Keeper. Your main objective is to dig deep and mine as much as you can. Unfortunately, you start out with some basic tools so hitting it big is slow-going for a while.

That's why you'll need to invest the materials you find in getting better equipment and constructing ways to make your own. While you'll have plenty of handheld tools to use as you start out, they're not the most optimal since they're restricted to wherever you happen to be. Luckily, you can boost your efficiency with automated tools like the Drill.

The Drill is one of the many tools you can build in Core Keeper. It has quite a punch that allows it to break into much stronger objects like boulders. Drills are fully automatic and can be set up in clear spaces around the area.

Their main drawback is that they require an electricity source such as a Generator to work and will need to be manually moved to different spots. However, you can have multiple Drills targeting a single boulder to reduce mining time and pump out more ore.

Even though there's plenty of loot to be found in Core Keeper, you won't find any Drills during your spelunking. You'll need to craft it yourself which requires the right tools and materials. First, you'll need a Scarlet Workbench. This is one of the more advanced workbenches you can get your hands on, and you won't be able to do so until you reach Azeos' Wilderness. This is because you'll need the Scarlet Ore that is commonly found there as well as in chests and through fishing in the Mold Biome.

Once you have enough Scarlet Ore, you can turn it into a Scarlet Bar using a Smelter Kiln. The good news is that you'll only need one piece of ore per bar. The bad news is that smelting each one at a time can be tedious, so try and have multiple Kilns set up to speed things along. You'll need at least 25 Scarlet Bars to get the Scarlet Workbench. Throw in 10 Tin Bars and 15 Iron Bars into the mix, and you'll be all set.

With the Scarlet Workbench active, you'll next need an Automation Table. This is a special workbench that lets you make automated tools like the Drill. The materials to make one are eight Scarlet Bars, eight Iron Bars, and five mechanical parts. While the bars are self-explanatory, the parts are a bit trickier. They can only be found in enemy loot, breaking objects, or inside chests. Thankfully, they're quite common, so you'll soon have everything you need to make an Automation Table.

With this latest Workbench up and running, you'll finally have a way to make the Drill. The recipe is quite easy as all you'll need are 10 Iron Bars and 10 Scarlet Bars. Make sure you stock up, so you can produce as many Drills as possible.
